If you’ve spent any time playing Elden Ring, you’re probably aware that players can leave messages for each other as well as blood stains to warn others of how they perished. Of course, there are times when the messages aren’t from other players and are instead placed there by the game creators to assist the user, such as during the tutorial. If you’ve explored Limgrave, the game’s first region, you’ve definitely came upon a sign that says: Open for Business. If you want to know what that means, we can assist you.
What’s with the Open For Business sign? – Open for Business Elden Ring
Even if you’re playing offline, you’ll notice a sign on the ground as you travel the main route through Limgrave’s Mistwood. This is a sign placed by the game, or more precisely, by one of the game’s nomadic merchants to inform passers-by that he is available for business. As you approach the sign, you’ll almost certainly attract the notice of the local demi-human population, so make sure you take care of those guys before hunting for the individual who placed the sign up.
After you’ve dealt with the rather weak adversaries, take a peek to the northeast. A campfire should be visible rising above a little rocky mound ahead of you. As you walk approach it, you should see a nomadic merchant sitting and playing his strange instrument with his horse nearby. As you approach, the guy will repeat his ‘open for business’ message, so consider purchasing some of the cookbooks he’s holding; after all, he says he’s been hungry for a while, and you wouldn’t want the poor guy to go hungry, would you?
